Yup--I will do so after the mirror tonight. Here is the logistics email I sent to all players last night: Hi everyone, Imaginary Landscape No. 5 at HSNCT will take place on Saturday, 25 May, at 8:30 PM. Re: Imaginary Landscape No. 5

Thanks to more gracious volunteers, the field cap is now 32 players. With under a week left, there are still ten slots open, so now is the time if you’ve been waiting.

Keep an eye out for a logistics email on Friday evening—I will send it after I’ve had a chance to scope out the rooms.

Re: Imaginary Landscape No. 5

I'm playing the afternoon prelim session that's scheduled to end at 7:30pm, so we'll aim for a start time of 8:30pm to account for delays and give people some time for dinner.

I'll send out an email (and make a post) closer to the event to confirm room locations and other logistics.

Re: Imaginary Landscape No. 5

Since William Wang has graciously volunteered his time, the field is now expanded to 24 players. There is no fee for this event.

EDIT: Thanks to more gracious volunteers, the field is now capped at 32 players.

Re: Imaginary Landscape No. 5

The HSNCT mirror is now open for registration. It will take place on Saturday evening as a singles tournament using the ladder system, 8 players per room. There will be an initial seeding round of 20 questions, 5 rounds of ladder play of 20 questions each, and a finals round of 40 questions. The fie...

Re: Unauthorized Landscapes, an audio side event

A quick update: we still plan to run this set at HSNCT, probably on Saturday evening in rooms whose use NAQT has graciously permitted. I hope to get logistics and registration information up here soon (by the end of this month). I also plan to run an online playtest session before HSNCT. I've heard ...

Re: FACTS Question-Specific Discussion

This has been slightly edited since the MIT mirror, but the parts are the same. This symphony’s first movement parodies a theme from Hitler’s favorite operetta, Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow. For 10 points each: [10] Name this symphony which features a 22-bar snare drum “invasion theme” and is nickn...

Re: FACTS Question-Specific Discussion

One composer from this country included a toccata nicknamed “The Devil’s Staircase” in a collection of notoriously difficult etudes. That composer’s piece Atmospheres, which exemplifies his pioneering “micropolyphonic” style, appears in the score for 2001: A Space Odyssey. Another composer from thi...

The order of the packets at MIT should have been the same as at QuBIT.

Re: SMT 2018 Specific Question Discussion

I attended today's Hopkins mirror as well and had a pretty good time. I think this set hits its target difficulty well--for me as a high schooler at least, the questions were challenging but still accessible. I would second Julia's criticism about the prompt instructions for "water on Mars"...

Re: Virginia NASAT 2018?

Much thanks to Eric for hosting & making this convenient for teams attending States. I would be interested in trying out and am also curious about the precise nature of the tryouts/team selection criteria.

Re: Imaginary Landscape No. 4

Given that Eddie has just ceded his spot at CO 2018 and that there were two other audio tournaments vying for spots at NSC and HSNCT, I would like to move the main site of Imaginary Landscape to CO 2018, with the possibility of running additional post-CO mirrors either on Discord, or at one or more...

Benjamin Xu (also of TJ) and I had planned to run a Landscape-style audio event this spring at HSNCT and NSC. After reading this thread and having other conversations, we have decided to reschedule to 2019. Given the concerns expressed here, I wanted to make it known that another audio tournament is...
