Re: INTRODUCING THE AMERICAN QUIZBOWL LEAGUE

Sorry for continuing to post without giving Mr. Feldman a chance to respond to other stuff brought up, but I wanted to bring up one concern in the Discord about THE AQBL that I think got lost in the flood of messages. A big part of AQBL's mission is expanding outreach, by developing detailed contact...

Re: INTRODUCING THE AMERICAN QUIZBOWL LEAGUE

Something I'm frustrated by, which I think I brought up a few months ago when LIQBA started announcing their spring online series, is the registration fee. Much like what has happened with NHBB regional tournaments, you're charging a registration fee which is very similar to the going rate and offe...

Just a few notes as you get your ballots ready: - In the case of players with the same name, such as Amogh Kulkarni from Wayzata and Amogh Kulkarni from Arcadia, please stipulate their school when you rank them (this isn't necessary for the sophomore ballot where only Arcadia Amogh is a sophomore) -...

2019-20 Groger Ranks Player Poll: RESULTS POSTED

Like last year we are running another player poll for the high school quizbowl season. This poll is harder to run once again because of nationals and the fact that it would be very hard to be able to deem a player's particular specialty or skill in a category from stats alone. We have decided to run...

Re: Quizbowl Monopolization and its Problems

The concerns came not because of any threat to our plans to run online tournaments (of which we only run a few anyways and which we have decided to not use any of the revenues from for our own purposes), but rather for the potential consequences of “monopolization” of online quiz bowl. You are right...

Groger Ranks has learned from writers of several sets about a recent phenomenon of attempted monopolization of online tournaments. 2019-20 Illinois Postseason Poll
