Re: 2024 ACF Winter Thanks and General Discussion
I liked the set overall, but one thing my team noticed was that the literature bonuses were on the easy side, whereas history bonuses seemed quite difficult relatively. I'm not a lit player but I knew close to all the medium parts, but my team (anecdotally) did worse on history despite being more ...

Re: 2024 ACF Nationals Discussion
This character’s […] the only man to shoot an arrow through a golden fish’s eye. I think this is clue is confusing at game speed (I believe our opponents negged with Arjuna; perhaps they heard the version above). It would probably be good to insert the phrase “another character” somewhere, or just w ...

Re: 2024 Division I ICT: specific question discussion
Nobody has brought this up yet but after thinking about it I believe I have a case to make. In my opinion the price index question should have had a prompt (or accept) on “inflation”. The identifier “statistic of this type” is quite vague, so someone could reasonably think that the answer is just “st ...

Re: 2023 ARCADIA Specific Question Discussion
I enjoyed the tournament overall. Below are the tossups that I think need fixing or are otherwise problematic (some of them are typos so should be fixed before the next mirror). TU 1.5: I think you can Gettier this (before power!) using the fact that "The Origin of the Work of Art" and The Work of ...

Re: 2023 ACF Nationals Specific Question Discussion
Really enjoyed the math in this set. However there were a few errors that I will point out. Playoffs 1: the bonus part on ideals is wrong Playoffs 7: the third clue on “symplectic” has to say what the Lie derivative is with respect to (eg a Hamiltonian flow); it is not 0 for a general vector field. S ...

Re: *NEW* ANNOUNCEMENT: 2021 WORKSHOP
Following up on my previous post; I would appreciate a response. Advanced stats were advertised for this tournament (in both the set announcement and Harvard site announcement) and it has been over four months since the set was clear (and seven months since the Harvard mirror).

Re: Southeast-Midwest Housewrite @ Northeast, 02/27/2021
While I sympathize with the unfortunate circumstances of online quiz bowl, I take issue with the packet limitation reason. College quiz bowl sets generally have at least 13 packets, with many having 15. Granted, this is an online tournament, and there has been some discussion about reducing the ...

Re: Southeast-Midwest Housewrite @ Northeast, 02/27/2021
I heard that this tournament doesn't have an advantaged finals; could I ask for the reasoning behind this decision? I could be wrong, but to me it seems pretty standard in quiz bowl to have advantaged finals by default, foregone only with a good reason (like a large number of rounds or playing the ...

Re: Michigan Winter Tournament at Harvard (2/22/20)
It seems like the current plan is to play an 11-team round robin. Given that there are currently two house teams, would it be possible to do either a 12-team round robin (keeping the same number of rounds) or a 10-team round robin with rebracketing (like ACF regionals at Yale this year, and Penn ...
