ANSWER DISCUSSION POLICY FOR VENDOR QUESTIONS

Post by Matt Weiner »

Hey, this has been a problem in the past so I want to re-emphasize it for the 2008-2009 year, what with NAQT and HSAPQ both having several tournaments going on this weekend:

There is to be no discussion of specific questions, answers, or clues from vendor-produced high school questions until such time as those questions are no longer being sold for tournament use. For NAQT, this means nothing from this year's sets should be discussed until at least summer 2009 (and possibly longer). For HSAPQ, this means nothing from the fall semester sets should be discussed before January 1, 2009. I don't know exactly what the timeframe for other vendors is, but it's your responsibility to find out before you talk about their questions.

No hinting at it, no dancing around it, no anything that could give any sort of advantage to someone reading the thread and then playing the tournaments. Board staff will mercilessly edit out anything that could spoil the integrity of a competition, and repeat offenders may find their ability to post further aggravation restricted.

For my questions, no discussion of:
VHSL questions until the VHSL season has ended
2007-08 MSHSAA state questions until the VHSL season has ended (I am using those questions for this year's regular season)

Thank you.

I want to re-iterate what Matt said that you cannot discuss specifics of HSAPQ questions until January 1st when Matt or I will start a discussion thread. If you have any burning comments about HSAPQ's questions or general philosophy you can email me.

Hey - just to clarify, discussing questions means anything that gives an undue advantage to someone who reads the boards over someone who doesn't. Mentioning the subject area of a particular question, saying that too many of a certain subject showed up etc. definitely falls under this policy. If your post has a single iota of actual information in it and the questions haven't been cleared, don't make that post.
