California Summer Open(s)?

Post by Mike Bentley »

Are there any plans in the works for summer open(s) in California?

Either Stanford or Berkeley will probably host something in July, though we probably won't start actively organizing anything for a couple weeks or so.

What a coincidence, I awaken from my quizbowl slumber to find this thread. I'm interested in playing any tournament that happens in the Bay area over the summer. Request whoever is organizing to reach out at gkandlikar at zoho dot com

As a resident old person shouting into the abyss, I am both around, and would be appreciative if GOLBEZ could be run somewhere more within reach than Rosemont.

I'd love to play this! I'll be out of town approximately July 7 through July 28, so I would strongly prefer a June or August date.

Would love to play a NASAT mirror in the Bay Area and fulfill as-yet-unrealized plans to play an open out there. Am out of town most of late June and start school in mid August - would prefer something in the middle there that doesn't clash with CO too badly.

If this happens in the bay area during July, there's a significant chance I'll show up.

Likewise, I'd be interested in attending a California event if it's after I move to San Diego in late July/early August. Who is going to host and what dates are being considered? Perhaps a date poll would help speed this process up.

With Summer Open not happening, here's my dream lineup for a California side events tournament that would hopefully take place at least a couple weeks away from CO:

Saturday:
META
This Must Be the Place
The Unanswered Question

Sunday:
Super Acronym II
RULFO

I'd drive up to NorCal/down to San Diego to play in Super ACRONYM (and staff other events in the weekend), other obligations permitting.

I will be making a tournament announcement like, right away, but I wanted to let the thread know that I've been taking point on this thing, sort of, and am looking toward to hosting this at Cal State Long Beach.
