When the field fills, we will immediately begin a waitlist, and teams who have already registered will have one week to cancel before a cancellation penalty fee takes effect (the cancellation fee after that point is $337.50, equivalent to one-half the base fee for HSNCT registration). If the waitlist reaches 16 teams at any time between the end of that one week and May 1, we will expand the HSNCT field to 288 teams (and promote the teams on the waitlist).

After 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, February 28, teams that drop from the field will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the registration fee. This fee will increase as the tournament approaches. Teams may sign up for the waitlist; waitlisted teams will be added to the field in order of sign-up if teams cancel (or if the field is expanded).

With the waitlist for HSNCT at 18 as of this morning, are there any practical barriers to expansion to 288 teams, now that the conditions for expansion have been met?

We are verifying that the teams on the waitlist are still planning to come if the field is expanded. I believe that is the only barrier.

For those of you who care about such things, HSNCT podcast editing is nearly (83.3%) done, and with any luck things should be on their way to Jonah mid-to-late next week at the latest--to hopefully be posted soon after.
