Bronco Bowl II @ Rancho Bernardo High School (12/17)

The Rancho Bernardo Quizbowl team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our tournament on December 17, 2016, using the WHAQ set for the Varsity Division and Penn Novice for the junior varsity division.

Location: The tournament will take place in the S Buildings at Rancho Bernardo High School @ 13010 Paseo Lucido, San Diego, CA 92128.

Date: The tournament will take place on December 17, 2016. Check in will begin at 8:00 AM and the first round will start promptly at 9:00 AM.

Registration: Teams must register through this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... rm?c=0&w=1

After registration, a confirmation email will be sent out. Tournament fees should be paid at the tournament with either cash or checks (make checks out to Rancho Bernardo Quizbowl).

Eligibility:

For the Varsity division:
All high school students are welcome to participate in the varsity division.

For the JV division, the team must have:
-No more than two years of experience
-Never been to a National Tournament
-Won no more than three HS tournaments at the JV or Varsity level in a single academic year.

Pricing:
Team 1: 80$
Team 2+: 70$ (carries over between divisions)

Discounts:
-$5 for each fully-functional buzzer system (must have at least four working buzzers on both sides)
-$5 for traveling distances over 50 miles, one-way, according to Google Maps
-$10 for each competent moderator
-$60 (new school discount) for any school composed entirely of students that have not competed at a pyramidal quiz bowl tournament prior to the 2015–16 school year

Minimum fee: $60 per non-new team, $10 per new team

Food: A light breakfast will be provided prior to the starting round, and many eateries can be found within a 10-20 minute walk (Costco, In-In-Out, Panda Express, Rubios, etc)

Format: A round-robin preliminary in the morning will be followed by a round-robin playoff in the afternoon. Seedings in the individual sub-brackets will be determined by the overall win-loss record. Ties across brackets will be broken by average points per bonus and ties within brackets will be broken by average points per game. Standard NAQT/ACF rules will be followed with each untimed half consisting of 10 questions.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to both top teams and top individual scorers.
