The Celebs Are At It Again
Inspired by people who somehow actually enjoyed Not Another Trash Tournament, I'm now working on another trash tournament called "The Celebs Are At It Again." Melanie may or may not join in on the writing depending on how much real work she has to do.
Distribution
This set is tossups only because trash bonuses suck and no one wants to hear more than 1/0 "video games" or "sports" written by me.
4/0 music, split between rap and stuff like that, pop music, bad hard rock and metal, and pop punk/ska
4/0 movies, split between animated children's movies and/or Disney movies, super bad horror movies that most likely involve sharks, movies that are supposed to be funny, and other movies that may or may not be stuff I like, such as indie stuff, French films, Bollywood, or horrible action movies with no plot
3/0 TV, including sitcoms, dramas and action, and things billed as "guilty pleasure" in at least one listing
1/0 "sports"
1/0 video games, as understood by Eliza (clues may or may not be true, and I might not know the difference between Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong jr.)
1/0 shit lit, comics, and webcomics
3/0 common link, featuring animals (even non-bird ones!), totally unnecessary action tossups, and oddly specific answerlines
1/0 pop culture conspiracy theories
2/0 whatever the hell I want
Where to play
I dunno. If any main tournament sites want to grab this, let me know. If not, it will just be played whenever and wherever mirrors want it.
Cost
$10? If I finish my "secret theme" (not so secret, according to Dylan, Rob, and Morgan) audio tournament and Clickhole packet in time, you can pay more for those depending on how humiliated you are for answering them, I guess.

This is actually the second Clickhole packet. The first one is now posted at this link. It's a few years old, so some of the articles aren't as recognizable anymore, but hopefully it's still enjoyable to play.AKKOLADE wrote:You have my attention.eliza.grames wrote:Clickhole packet in time

Re: The Celebs Are At It Again
This tournament is now getting transformed into an effort to instruct UConn players on how to be better question writers, so the writers are now myself, Ian Drayer, Prayush Singh, Ben Watson, Chris Choi, and Jay Cizeski with possibly more folks joining us. I guess I'm "head editing" the set and leaving all the sports and video games to Ian.
The sad news is that there are now sports and video games in the set, so I had to change the distribution and it is now:
4/0 music, split by genre
4/0 movies, split by decade
4/0 TV, split by decade
4/0 sports, split by shape of the ball
1/0 video games
1/0 shit lit
2/0 whatever we feel like writing on, including pop culture conspiracy tossups, animals, oddly specific answerlines, and totally unnecessary action tossups (e.g. dropping it like it's hot)

Re: The Celebs Are At It Again
This thread is now a trainwreck of changed plans, but... The Celebs ARE At It Again.
This set is now back in production and the estimated completion date is the end of July so it should be available for the second summer open and whatever is happening in Canada. Sorry for getting derailed by working on my dissertation or whatever.
I'm aiming for 10 packets plus tiebreakers, but worst case scenario there will be 8 packets and tiebreakers. The UConn set will be a separate thing which will be announced whenever Ben gets people to edit their questions, though I think it's close to done at this point.
The writing team for Celebs is about 80% me with contributions from Ben Watson and Auroni Gupta. As it currently stands, the distribution is:
1/0 Rap and stuff like that
1/0 Pop music and top 40 hits
1/0 Bad hard rock and metal music
1/0 Pop punk and ska
1/0 Children's/Disney movies
1/0 Super bad horror movies
1/0 Comedies
1/0 Other movies
1/0 TV sitcoms or related things
1/0 TV dramas and action
1/0 TV shows that are billed as guilty pleasure on at least one listing or reality shows
1/0 Other TV shows
1/0 video games, as understood by Eliza (clues may or may not be accurate)
1/0 Shit lit, comics, and webcomics
1/0 Totally unnecessary action tossups**
1/0 Celeb things
1/0 Pop culture conspiracy theories
1/0 Whatever the hell I want
1/0 i dunno, something
1/0 other stuff
**The ones written for this so far offer 10 points for answering with words, 15 for acting out the answer. You will not know in advance which questions are action tossups.

Re: The Celebs Are At It Again
After these games, we beat Yasogami High in what can best be described as an extremely Eliza tiebreaker series.
