Bruce Arthur's Amazing Planet (CANCELED FOR MO)
This is a preliminary announcement for my MO side event.
This is a sequel to Wild Kingdom, but is broader in scope. Non-animal forms of life, such as plants, fungi, and protists, are now in play. As is anything related to Earth science.
There will be five packets of 20/0 each. A full distribution will be posted later. Let me know if you want to help write this.

So everyone knows, Bruce's tournament will be on Saturday evening after MO. Mike Bentley's Eyes IV will be Saturday over lunch (I will coordinate food-purchasing for all participants). Eliza and Melanie from the Minnesota team are planning a trash tournament that is tentatively scheduled for Sunday.

This is still happening. I am looking for people to write the following things for me:
(1) Literature
(2) Trash
(3) Classical Mythology
I would want no more than 5-10 questions from any of these subjects (and possibly even less for classical myth), so this would be a small task order.
Please contact me if you are interested.

Re: Bruce Arthur's Amazing Planet (11/17/12 at Minnesota Open)
Here is the distribution for this tournament:
2/0 Mammals
1/0 Birds
1/0 Reptiles and Amphibians
1/0 Extinct Beasts
1/0 Invertebrates
1/0 Microbes
2/0 Plants
1/0 Fungi
5/0 Earth Science and Geography
3/0 Other Academic
2/0 Trash
The "Other Academic" will focus on things from History, Literature, Mythology, Religion, Art, etc. that somehow involve a living thing or natural phenomenon. So for example, a tossup on a mythical dog, or a common link tossup on transform faults in literature.
The "Trash" distribution will likewise focus on trash-related living things or natural phenomena.

Still looking for somebody to help me with lit and fine arts. Otherwise I'll have to write that myself, and that won't end well for anyone.

I can't do it, but you can have all five of my tossups on transform faults in literature. You know, for a nominal fee.

I think I got like -2 ppg at the last of these tournaments, so I can probably help out with the lit and fine arts.

Re: Bruce Arthur's Amazing Planet (11/17/12 at Minnesota Open)
It is with great sadness that I must indefinitely postpone this event. Frankly put, I won't have time to finish this by MO, due to social and work obligations that were unforseeable at the time I planned the tournament.
I give effusive thanks to everyone who contributed questions, and apologize to all those who are inconvenienced by the cancellation.
If the Admins can put some kind of "CANCELLED" thing in the title, that would be pretty boss.

I'm so happy this was canceled since I wasn't going to be able to stay for the second day. Now it will hopefully take place at a tournament I can play it at.
