An NHBB Site for All Regions
Since the more thorough statistical data that appears on the NHBB websites has not been updated since the results of February 25th's Bees & Bowls were posted, perhaps we can use this forum as a means of at least providing a general overview of what has happened since then in various regions around the country. As examples, does anyone know what happened at the Bee & Bowl at Dorman on March 10, or, for that matter, at any of the other March 10th venues? And what about today, where there were at least 7 or 8 tournaments being held, including one on an A Set in DC with some great teams participating?
News about any of these would be interesting while we wait for more detailed postings on the official NHBB website. So, can anyone provide some reliable info about any results since February 25th?

Re: An NHBB Site for All Regions
Sorry about the delay - just finished the Magical History Tour after 8 hours of driving yesterday, 10 today, running KY middle school on Friday, reading last 2 rounds at PA high school today, and coordinating 8 tournaments in the USA today and 1 in Tokyo. I sent all the pre-today stat reports to our webmaster on Wednesday, I'll call her tomorrow and post a list of winners here then too for the more recent tournaments.

Re: An NHBB Site for All Regions
According to a teammate who was there, the final results of the bowl were:Edward Powers wrote:one on an A Set in DC with some great teams participating?
1. Blair
2. RM
3. Whitman
4. GDS
4. St. Anselm's
Bee results were:
1. Daniel Hafner from Blair
2. Jacob Wasserman from St. Anselm's
3. Daniel Galitsky from RM
That's all I know.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the way ranking work in a single elimination bracket, I think those placements are off. The results for the five teams mentioned: Whitman A lost in the first round to GDS A. Saint Anselm's beat the sixth team (Whitman B?) in the first round. RM and Blair had byes. RM defeated GDS A in the semifinals and Blair defeated Saint Anselm's in the semifinals. Blair defeated RM in the finals. Unless I'm mistaken, the results should be:
1. Blair
2. RM
3. GDS
3. St. Anselm's
5. Whitman
1. Blair
2. RM
3. GDS
3. St. Anselm's
5. Whitman

It's this, with 5 being both Whitman A and Whitman BSunWukong wrote:Unless I'm misunderstanding the way ranking work in a single elimination bracket, I think those placements are off. Bowl stats at http://www.historybowl.com/state-bowl-results/ now finally complete through 3/10. 3/17 tournaments will be up within the next 2-3 days. Bee results are complete through 3/10 as well, including Northern Louisiana, which had been delayed a bit.

Re: An NHBB Site for All Regions
Thanks to all for the updates on tournaments since late February. However, I have a question about the Bee in Saint Louis, Missouri, which seemed to use an entirely different scoring system in its Varsity Bee than any other venue in the country. Unless I missed another such anomaly, all venues in the country work on a 3 round format where the most points possible per round is 13 points, via getting 8 questions correct by the 12th question, then getting a 5 point bonus for scoring 8 by the 12th question or earlier, so the best score possible in the prelims is 39, at any Bee in the country. But in Saint Louis, the top players scored in the high teens and low to mid twenties each round, and the highest score after 3 rounds was a 62, I believe. So, does anyone know what scoring system was used in Saint Louis, and how might a 62 there compare to scores in all the other regions? And what would have been the best preliminary score possible in Saint Louis? Curious here in New Jersey.

Re: An NHBB Site for All Regions
Some of the rules did not get relayed too excellently at our site, so in the prelim rounds, we kept going even after we hit 8 (but got the bonus based on where we hit 8? it was weird). I think I got a 3 point bonus the first round, a 4 point the second, and a 5 point the 3rd, so that would translate to a 36. Best score possible would have been a 105 I guess (30 every round, 5 point bonus), but we enjoyed negging far too much to get close to that.

Re: An NHBB Site for All Regions
For the Kentucky State Championships hosted at our school (Oldham County High School), the varsity tournament was won by DuPont Manual, who went undefeated in prelims and won the playoffs. Second place in varsity went to Menifee County.
The JV championship was won by DuPont Manual B, but since they cleared the other JV teams by 2 games, no final was necessary.
The varsity bee was won by somebody from DuPont Manual who's name I don't know, and the runner up was Rahul Annabathula from Piarist.
The JV bee was won by Skyler Cantrell from Menifee County against someone else from DuPont Manual that I'm not familiar with.

This is incorrect -AustinlSmith wrote: The varsity bee was won by somebody from DuPont Manual who's name I don't know, and the runner up was Rahul Annabathula from Piarist.
Official KY State Championships results were:
JV Bowl - duPont Manual - no final was played
Varsity Bowl Final - duPont Manual 350 - Menifee County 150
JV Bee - Skyler Cantrell, Menifee 5 - Jiahui Hu, duPont Manual 1
Varsity Bee Final - Rahul Annabathula, Piarist 5 - David Ferguson, duPont Manual 2
