NC's tournament has been rescheduled to March 24. Hopefully NCASA has contacted NAQT about this change.

So it's not looking good for Delaware hosting an NAQT state championship. No one has stepped up, and i'm not sure if our school can host it (plus, as silly as this will sound to the rest of the country, teams will not be willing to drive 45-60 minutes to our school, and since basically all the teams in Delaware other than us that do anything - all 3 of them - are up in New Castle County, they simply won't come down our way). No one at UD has really gotten back to me, nor has anyone at Mt. Pleasant HS which hosted it the last two years, nor has the now-enigmatic Bill Tressler. So, i'm not sure where to go from here.

That's the TQBA championship, which is using the DII ICT set (and is restricted to a limited set of teams that qualify from earlier TQBA events). There will be a distinct Texas state qualifier earlier on April 14th (using IS #116 and open to all teams).

naqt.com wrote:Hosts must make a preliminary announcement including contact information and approximate schedule by December 9, 2011, on the relevant online quizbowl forums and by e-mail to likely attendees. It is hoped that hosts will make a postal announcement to likely attendees as well; NAQT will make its mailing list available for such publicity.

Hosts must make a full announcement including contact information, schedule, format, suggesting housing, tournament location, fees, included meals, special events, and any other relevant information by January 6, 2012, on the relevant online quizbowl forums and to interested schools and likely attendees.
I am to assume that, based on the fact that you are still asking for potential hosts, that these dates do not hold, correct?
(I am asking as Irvington may (still barring discussions with appropriate people and a lot of other stuff) be interested in being a host for the NYC metro area, but obviously if those deadlines are real then that would be impossible)

Correct. Bidding is still open for all states (and provinces) not listed as "confirmed" in my original post; contact us at hosting (at) naqt.com to submit a bid or just express interest.

Thank you. But just as a note to anyone in th NYC metro area who may be reading this, Irvington will not be bidding for this, the date that seemed to work so well was actually an awful choice for us.

Just to clarify: while most state championships will use a regular Invitational Series set (like IS #115 or #116), NAQT is also happy to provide hosts with an Introductory Invitational Series set (like IS #114A) for state championship use. (This can be helpful in setting up state championships in areas with less experience of pyramidal quizbowl.)

ok, because this is probably going to need Delaware's help to run this again, and I haven't had anyone tell me what's going on yet.

So that's our Spring Break and ICT, although I doubt we're getting off the waitlist. Can Delaware get a confirmation from someone at Mount that this is still happening, because I'm going to have to beg people to help out during their break, although I know me and Alex will probably be around.

We sent an e-mail recently regarding confirming the Arizona tournament on at ASU on the EDIT: 14th to hosting at NAQT but have yet to hear anything back. Can we go ahead and formally announce that tournament?

Any other word on Delaware's championship? Apparently the Mt. Pleasant coach has been completely unresponsive for weeks? If this falls through, will another school step up to host it?
