Base fee: $120 per team
Functional buzzer discount: $5 each

Functional laptop discount: $5 (1 per team)

To register for this tournament, e-mail [email protected], or reply here.

Packet Submission:
As per the ACF submission rules, any team with at least one person on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament prior to September 1, 2010 is required to submit a packet in order to participate in an ACF tournament in 2011-2012. This includes ACF Fall. As of last year, high school players are now included in this definition and are subject to the same discounts and penalties as college teams. Teams required to submit packets who do not submit one by the final deadline will be dropped from the tournament.

Please submit packets to [email protected] and use “ACF Fall 2011: [Team Name]” in the subject line.

This year’s submission schedule is:

Packet submitted before 11:59 PM eastern time on:
September 11, 2011: -$50
September 25, 2011: -$25 (-$50 for teams not required to submit packets)
October 9, 2011: No penalty (-$25 for teams not required to submit packets)
October 16, 2011: +$25

Interesting.

Anyway, UW will certainly have one team, and hopefully more like 2 or 3 teams.

That would be Travis Vitello. I'm pretty sure nobody in Columbus is planning on abandoning the rest of us and flying to a seemingly random location just to play ACF Fall.

It's not all that random. With frequent flier miles, it is as economic for me to travel to Boise as it is to, say, Tuscaloosa. The difference being that Boise is one of few sites that offers zero need for a rental car, and housing seems cheap-ish. Plus, They Might Be Giants are playing in town the night of 11/5.

I wasn't referring to your choice of location as random (but if it came out that way, I apologize), but your explanation does make sense.

I expect Treasure Valley Math & Science Charter to have a team or two. We might be able to get two teams from Boise State.

No responses from any of the other regional schools I've contacted (except Portland State--Angelo has said he's not going to be able to come).

Have you talked to BYU? I heard they had something of a team this year.

Do ya'll have a field update for this? I expect the field to be small-ish, but I'm curious if there have been any new developments. Thanks.

It looks like it's just you, Boise State (1-2 teams), UW (2 teams), and TVMSC (unknown number of teams, but I do expect them to come).

The Education Building.

I'll see everybody Friday night or Saturday morning, I imagine. I'll leave directions on how to get there.

Travis from Ohio State won at 8-2. There was a 3 way tie with a 6-4 record for 2nd place.

Travis took the top scorer.
