HS Preseason Podcast

Post by Smuttynose Island »

Here is the 2011-2012 HSQB Preseason podcast. Inside you can find all sorts of prognostications about the upcoming HSQB year. Thanks to everyone who participated and thanks to everyone who listens.

This was fun to listen to. Thanks for doing this everybody. I would have participated but this 4-year-old computer probably would not have handled it considering what else it's been doing lately.

Also, thanks for the bulletin board material that i did find in the 20 second discussion about Caesar Rodney. That will be good motivation for us.

This was an interesting discussion. Re:Univ School of Nashville: Their returning captain finished third in the National Geographic Bee in middle school (I was in the audience for that), so he has that covered, and he totally burned me at History Bee, so I think they can be top 8 at HSNCT, especially if they go to more things during the year. Regarding the TJ/St. Anselm's dichotomy, I think the latter has the slight edge, at least for now. DC region is going to be really exciting for quizbowl this year, for sure.

The good science player from Auburn B last year that someone mentioned was presumably Alex Cooper, who graduated.

If anyone cares (and by anyone, I mean next to nobody), Lisgar should dominate the Canadian quizbowl circuit like it has since high school quizbowl was introduced. However, it won't be as good as it was last year.

Yeah, actually, I'm assuming they were talking about Austin Listerud (who notably played on our B team at PACE despite having never played quiz bowl throughout high school), who has indeed graduated as well. I do not, however, expect us to be completely devoid of science or anything like that.
