While this is possible, it would probably require a good working knowledge of Canadian French to be effective, which is an entirely different beast from français standard.

The host of the TV show is speaking in rather French French (I assume because it's sort of "official"—it was a nice surprise to actually be able to understand things)
I can't imagine many Québecois people being toooo confused?
