MUT Discussion

Post by millionwaves »

I've just set up a hidden forum for the discussion of MUT. TO ENTER:

From your user control panel, select usergroups. Find MUT at the bottom of the list, then click the radio button and submit as "join selected." Brendan Byrne will be in charge of approving people to join the MUT discussion, so if you think he might not recognize your username, let him know who you are. This would be a good thread in which to do so.

I did not play MUT but am not an active player and will never play this set. I requested to join the group because I am always curious to see discussion of sets in order to improve my own skills as a writer/editor.

nobthehobbit = Daniel Pareja. Did not play MUT, will not play any mirror thereof, may have a question or two in the set if Gautam remembered the stuff I sent him months ago.

Everyone who has requested to be in this group should be able to access it. I plan on checking to see if any more people have requested access at least a few times a day (on most days) until all of the mirrors are complete.

If you have requested access, and it has taken me a while to respond, or if you are feeling impatient, you can e-mail me at [email protected] and/or post in this thread.

Hey. Just a reminder that people who played today's mirror at Guelph should feel free to follow the instructions Trygve detailed in the first post, or post in this thread.

People who are playing in the Maggie Walker mirror tomorrow, or any of the MUT mirrors that are happening later, can do the same after those tournaments have happened. People who will not be playing the tournament, but want to see the discussion, should also feel free to request access.

Played at NGCSU, as either Southside or "Exactly Third" if the tournament staff remembered we were using a pseudonym.

We finally started using these in practice today and i have to say that so far, i really enjoy the questions. The tossups are full of good hard clues for high schoolers, written very well, and have appropriate answers that a team going to Nationals should certainly know. The bonuses might be even better... i found them to be quite accessible but often with a tough but important third part that constantly yields a "oh that's what that is!" response, which will only help facilitate learning and help the team understand that that hard part really is vital to start knowing.

Let us know if you have any specific concerns or comments. I'd like hearing if there's any particular bonuses that you thought did a good/poor job at what you're describing.

This was the last MUT mirror, right?

Do I have to ask to join the MUT discussion, or will it be made public now?

Could a moderator/administrator make the MUT Discussion public, as all of the mirrors are completed?

Also, the set is posted on collegiate.quizbowlpackets.com
