St. Louis Open NASAT Mirror (6/29/2019)

Post by 1992 in spaceflight »

Hello, quizbowl! I’m pleased to announce that Washington University in St. Louis will be hosting a mirror of the NASAT set on June 29, 2019 as the academic portion of the St. Louis Open! I, Jacob O’Rourke, will be directing it.

We’re also planning on mirroring a trash tournament on Sunday, June 30th. Charles Hang will be directing that event; please direct any inquiries to him.

Registration
To register, please email me at [email protected] and tell me the following information:
-The number of teams you will be bringing
-The number of buzzers you will be bringing
-The number of players, as well as their names
-Any staffers you will be bringing, as well as their names

A team formation spreadsheet can be found here for the NASAT mirror.

Fees
Base Fee: $80 per team
Buzzer Discount: $10 per buzzer
Moderator Discount: $10 per moderator
Scorekeeper Discount: $5 per scorekeeper

Minimum Fee: $40 per team (for the mirror fee)

This tournament is going to be held in the Danforth University Center (the DUC), which is building number 28 on this map (the address for parking in the lot outside, for those of you who will need it for your GPS, is 6453 Forsyth Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63130). Once rooms have been reserved, I will update this post about where we plan to meet.

I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at the end of June!

Some well-deserved updates:

We'll be meeting in Room 236 in the DUC. Check-in will run from 9 AM to 9:30 AM, with the aim of starting games as close to 9:30 AM as possible.

I'm going to leave team signups open until Friday, June 28th at Noon Central Time. This will give me time to finalize and send out the schedule on Friday afternoon.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

WUSTL A (Charles playing solo) went 10-0 to clear the field. NYU went 8-2 to claim second place.

Full stats from the day are here.

Thanks to Carolina Mao, Zach Roseman, Jason Loy and David Dennis for staffing!
