Post by A Very Long Math Tossup » Tue Aug 21, 2018 4:36 pm

I am pleased to announce the Mountain West site of ACF Fall 2018, to be held at CU Boulder on Saturday, 3 November 2018.

Location and schedule:
The tournament will be held on November 3 in the Hellems building. It will begin at 9:00 AM MDT, and teams should arrive between 8:15 and 8:45. Additional information will be emailed to registered teams.

Registration
Registration for this event has two steps:
First, please email me at matthew.s.mitchell@colorado.edu with team name, number, and buzzer/staffer information.
Second, fill out the central ACF Fall registration form with all relevant information.

Fees
Base fee: $135
Buzzer: -$5/functional system
Staffers: -$10/staffer
Shorthanded fee (teams of 1 or 2 players): $60
"New to Quizbowl" discount: $100

If you're worried about your team's ability to pay, send me an email.

Packet Discounts/Penalties
Any team with at least two people on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament prior to September 1, 2017 is required to submit a packet, unless it is a high school team.

Half-packet templates will be sent out to your team after you have submitted the registration form. If you have questions on the submission guidelines, email them to fall2018acf@gmail.com and they'll clarify.

Please submit packets to fall2018acf@gmail.com and use “ACF Fall 2018: [Team Name]” in the subject line.

Submission schedule
September 8: -$30
September 22: -$15 (-$30 if optional)
October 6: no penalty (-$15 if optional)
October 13: +$25
October 20: +$50

Packets submitted later than October 20 will receive an additional penalty.

Note Regarding High School Teams
ACF has allowed high school teams to attend to this mirror of ACF Fall on a case-by-case basis, for the reasons described in this post. High school teams interested in attending this mirror should email matthew.s.mitchell@colorado.edu and fall2018acf@gmail.com BEFORE registering so ACF can evaluate whether the team meets ACF’s specifications.

For more information, consult the global announcement or email the editors at fall2018acf@gmail.com

Due to a lack of rooms in the engineering center, the tournament has been moved to Hellems.

We'd like to thank ACF for graciously allowing us to open the field to high school teams.

If any well-funded programs want to fly out a B/C/D team, we'd greatly appreciate it. Colorado (and Boulder in particular) is a wonderful place to visit.
