2018 ACF Regionals @ Rice University (1/20/18)

Post by 15garzab »

Hey!

I'm happy to announce that Rice University will be hosting ACF Regionals for the Texas/Louisiana region on January 20th, 2018.

Packet Submission
Teams with at least one person who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament (either as a college student or as a high school student) prior to September 1, 2016 is required to submit a half-packet to ACF. House teams at host schools and teams who do not satisfy the previously stated condition are not required to submit a half-packet, but can still earn a $50 discount if they submit one by the no penalty deadline (December 10th). Full information about this year's set and packet submission can be found in the global announcement (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20005).

Registration
Registration for this tournament requires two steps: filling out the official ACF registration form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... Q/viewform), and emailing me at [email protected] with the number of teams/buzzers/staff you intend to bring. The initial field cap for this tournament is 10 teams, with the limiting factor being staff. Registration will close on Wednesday, January 17th.

Payment
Payment for ACF Fall will be processed through the ACF Treasurer, Gautam Kandlikar. He will get in touch with you about how much your team owes, how to pay for the tournament, etc. Please contact Gautam at [email protected] with any questions regarding payment.

Base fee: $135
Buzzer: -$5/functional system
Staffers: -$40/staffer
Shorthanded fee (teams of 1 or 2 players): $60
New to quizbowl discount: -$100

Logistics
The tournament will take place in the Humanities Building, exact rooms TBD. Metered parking is available near the front entrance to campus, with cheaper lots towards Greenbriar (a full map with options marked will be sent out to teams the week of). The opening meeting for the tournament will start at 8:45 am, with rounds slated to begin promptly at 9 am (this start time will be strictly adhered to).

We hope teams from the Texas/Louisiana circuit enjoyed playing Penn Bowl back in October as much as we enjoyed hosting! Hope to see y'all again in January.
