Detroit Country Day School MS Invitational, 1/21/17 (MS-20)

It is my pleasure to announce formally the fifth annual Detroit Country Day School Middle School Quiz Bowl Tournament, to be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017. This will be a NAQT untimed event, with 20 tossup/bonus sets per game, using packet MS-20; the top 15% of teams in attendance will qualify for NAQT middle school nationals in Dallas on May 13-14, 2017.

The tournament will be held at the Detroit Country Day School Upper School campus in Beverly Hills, MI. As of now, there is no cap on the field size, and the exact format of prelim and playoff rounds will be determined once the number of teams is finalized.

The fee schedule will be as follows :

$40 for the first team from a school
$40 for the second team from a school
NO CHARGE for each team beyond the second from a school
-$10 per fully functional buzzer system that a school brings
-$10/school distance discount for travelling over 100 miles one way as per Google Maps

We wound up with a 24 team field, and congratulations to the top four finishers, who qualified for NAQT Nationals:

2. DCDS A (9-1)
3. Emerson A (8-2)
4. St. Michael A (7-3)

Rounding out the afternoon championship bracket were 5th place DCDS B and 6th place UD Jesuit Academy.
