RMPFest Northeast?
So I really want to play RMPFest. I won't be at IO Brandeis, but I will be in Cambridge that weekend for Splash and for my own amusement. Bruce, would you be willing to host/authorize an informal RMPFest mirror on Sunday the 23rd if people were interested in playing? And are people interested in playing? I'd even be amused by free-for-all slap-bowl in a coffee shop in Harvard Square, but I'd like a chance to play these packets in real life against people who are better than me.

Re: RMPFest Northeast?
I would authorize it. Unfortunately, Dallas Simmons and Kyle Haddad-Fonda have already gazed upon RMPFest questions and would be unavailable to play.
Depending on how many people you get, you could hold a traditional tournament or perhaps even a Southern-style "shootout" where you guys all just sit in one room and answer tossups.

Also, West Coast people:
Do you want a mirror of RMPFest at the Berkeley mirror of IO? I spoke with the Berkeley folk, and they said they would do it if there was player interest. I know that Andrew Yaphe would be interested in playing a mirror; if anyone else is, please lobby the Berkeley people.

I'll volunteer to run this if there's interest.Whig's Boson wrote:Also, West Coast people:

Alternatively, I'd also be willing to play if someone else wants to staff. (And by "play" I mean "sit and watch Andrew answer some tossups")

Re: RMPFest Northeast?
If there is only limited interest in a NE "mirror" of RMPFest, I could put together a "best-of" packet with, say, the best 50 or so tossups, which could be played over lunch during another tournament.

If I go to the WIT, I'd be interested in playing it, and by playing it I mean listening to the questions being read and watching someone else buzz in.

I'm interested in playing a NE mirror, or "best of" "shootout" what have you.

Alright:
So if anyone is interested in playing RMPFest somewhere in the Harvard Square area on Sunday, November 23, most likely in an informal "shootout" arrangement, please post here. If there is insufficient interest, I will just release the set and open discussion on it.

Re: RMPFest Northeast?
You know, I don't have time to organize an NE mirror. So here is what I will do:
(1) I will email the set to Evan;
(2) Evan can, if he wants to, invite people to play it with him this weekend;
(3) I will trust Evan not to read the packets ahead of time;
(4) I will trust others not to cheat and read the packets or discussion before the play. Really, who cheats in an informal thing like this?
(5) I will then (later today) email the set to reputable packet archives and open a discussion.
