The Chris McCray Tournament For Academic Excellence II: Is Chris McCray Really Chris Ray?
Sunday, January 20th
University of Maryland
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Maryland Academic Quiz Team is pleased to announce its second installment of the Chris McCray Tournament For Academic Excellence, our packet submission optional trash tournament. This year's tournament will be a mirror of the Ann B. Davis trash tournament. The actual tournament will be taking place at our College Park campus, most likely in Jimenez Hall.
PRICING:
$80 Base fee per team.
-$50 Discount by submitting a packet by 12/16.
Variable Rate packet discount between 12/16 and 1/10 (the discount is $2 less per day for every day after 12/16 you submit it by)
+$0 even money for submitting a packet by 1/10
+$25 penalty for not submitting a packet
-$10 discount per school per competent staffer
-$5 discount pet school per working buzzer system
-$10 discount for each additional team from a school
-$10 discount per team for playing in Terrapin Invitational Tournament
Minimum Fee Per Team: $25
PACKET GUIDELINES:
Please see the official Ann B. Davis page at http://www.mikeburger.com/abd2008.html for specifics on packet requirements.
Please let me know if you're writing a packet. Submit your packets to me at [email protected] and I will forward them to the Ann B. Davis editors.
ELIGIBILITY:
This tournament is open to anyone. You need not be affiliated with any school or university to play in this game, nor must you be of college age. This tournament has comparatively stringent restrictions on language and “adult content” than other trash tournaments, although high school teams should still be advised that this tournament is written for an adult audience.
REGISTRATION:
You can register for this tournament by contacting proxy tournament director Mike Bentley at [email protected]. Jonathan Magin will most likely be running the logistics of the tournament on the day of the event.
Update 1/3/08: Registration on the day of the event will occur from 8:30 – 9:00 AM, in ASY 1213. Note that this is the Art Sociology building, which is not the usual place that we hold tournaments. You should still park in Lot 1, but consult the Interactive Map of College Park at http://www.parking.umd.edu/themap/ for details on how to get to ASY. Unfortunately, we will probably also need to split the tournament up between two buildings.
Hope to see everyone in January,
Mike Bentley
