WUSTL mirror of 2015 VCU Open - August 8, 2015

Post by armitage »

Washington University in St. Louis will host a mirror of this year's VCU Open on August 8 2015 (the same date as the main site and Michigan site). Information about the set can be found in the main announcement.

A Google spreadsheet for team formation exists.

Location: Will probably be in Seigle Hall. Update to come

Registration: Email me at [email protected] with team information, number of buzzers, and staffers.

Fees: $80 base fee, -$5 per buzzer set, -$20 for moderators. If you are paying by check, please address it to "Washington University Academic Team". Cash is also great.

Field:

Me
O'Rourke team
Harmata/Naveh-Benjamin/Sun
Stitz team
Morshed team

The people on the spreadsheet seem to imply that it's for an east coast mirror. That's just a guess though.

I'm wondering if we could totally play Tricon: The Next Generation as a little side event for this (of course, excluding James and I from playing the packet that we wrote).

Sure, if there's enough interest (say 5 or 6 people or more for a shootout) we could play that or any of the other side events; I don't imagine we'd have demand for more than a shootout on any of them. I'd also be interested in playing SHEIKH, if there's demand for that.

Also, I only reserved rooms for Saturday. If there's enough side event demand to spill over into Sunday, there are certainly some open rooms we can requisition, but not necessarily in the same place.

As it stands, there are only 3 teams who have emailed me to sign up (or consist of myself). Please sign up soon if you would like to play VCU Open. Thanks.

Stats can be found here. Tricon was also briefly played after the tournament.

My apologies for being incredibly lazy in posting scores for Tricon. Here are people's scores (I didn't track 20s/15s/10s/-5s):

Me: 5
David Dennis: 50
Peter Kahn: 15
Sean Phillips: 100
Mahir Morshed: 35
Gordon Arsenoff: 180
Richard Yu: 15
Sharon Lorsinskas: 10
James Zetterman: 0

We played the Anonymous Packet and the packet Mahir and James wrote.
