Oxford Open North America @ McMaster (DEFUNCT)

Post by O Fortuna »

EDIT: In order to better accommodate teams from distant lands, Oxford Open North America will be hosted by the University of Waterloo on Sun. Jan. 25, 2015 (the weekend of ACF Regionals). Stay tuned for their official announcement.

A nice and early announcement for a nice and early tournament next term - McMaster University will be hosting Oxford Open North America on Sat. Jan. 17, 2015. This is a regular-difficulty, closed tournament. Further details can be found here.

Fee structure
Base fee: $100 per team
-$5 per set of working buzzers
-$10 per staffer
-$15 travel discount (>200km one-way, according to Google Maps)
Minimum fee: $30

Field
The void... beckons.

To register, send us an email at macquizbowl AT gmail DOT com. Please include the number of buzzer sets / staff members you (at least tentatively) plan to bring - you can let us know later if things change. Hope to see y'all there!

It would save a lot of time and money for us far away schools to have this on ACF regionals Sunday.

We might consider going to the Canadian Regionals if it were paired with Oxford Open.

EDIT: Would this use the British or the American set?

We're not currently aware of which school will be hosting ACF Regionals, but if it's someone in the area, we'll definitely take that into account and look into organizing a double-tournament weekend.

It's the American set.

It was my understanding that McMaster has bid for ACF Regionals, and that no other school in Canada has. Can people confirm this? It could go a long way to sorting out the schedule...

This is currently true, though we will continue accepting bids until the announced deadline of November 2.
