Post by Deepika Goes From Ranbir To Ranveer »

The University of Waterloo is pleased to announce a mirror of DEES on the 22nd of November, 2014. The original announcement for the tournament may be found here and should be read for all the deets : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16257

Highlights

1. This tournament is closed to teams of students all affiliated to the same school.

2. This is a regular-difficulty tournament.

3. This is a packet-submission tournament. The penalty/discount is reproduced below. Details regarding difficulty may be found in the OT. If you're writing a pack for ACF Fall, you'll have to write a pack for DEES.

Sept. 6th = $90 discount
Sept. 20th = $40 discount
Sept. 27th = $20 discount
Oct 11th = $0 Penalty
Oct. 18th = $20 Penalty
Oct. 25th = $40 Penalty
Nov. 1st = $60 Penalty

The base fee for this tournament is $120. Discounts offered as below :

Team Base Fee : $120
Buzzer discount : $10
(Proficient) Reader discount : $20
Shorthanded team discount : $20 per missing player
Distance discount : $20 for a one-way distance greater than 100 miles

That's about it! I will have rooms confirmed for the tournament by the second week of September and more info regarding staffers and (possible) field caps will be posted when available. Get writing, people!

UPDATE: Rooms have been booked, we essentially have the entirety of the 4th floor of MC booked. Let's go with MC 4045 as HQ. You guys know the building by now.

So, a guesstimate field list looks like Waterloo, McMaster, Toronto, McGill, and some novice teams. Oh, and maybe uOttawa! Boom.

We're probably going to the MIT mirror but that is still up in the air. Sorry Aayush.

Yup, so expect at least (and probably only) one team from McMaster. Bring your 3DS and we'll do Smash and Pokemon as well! Aaron and Arjun, I am ready for you. Aayush, not so much.

Just thought I would draw everyone's attention to the updated policies for this tournament. To wit:
  • Updated fee structure
  • New eligibility rules
See the post in the main thread here.

Field has been updated. If any schools wish to register teams that are now eligible under the new rules, do so ASAP. If any open teams would like to register to play, do so ASAP.

Apparently some of the uOttawa players are still looking forward to receiving the book prizes they won at PADAWAN at UT (they were planned to be brought up to ACF Fall, but that fell through): if you could either bring them, or send them with the UT team this weekend, I will make sure they get back to Ottawa.
Thanks.

Everyone should aim to be in MC 4045 at #9AMSHARP. We're looking at a 9:30 start time, please and thank you.

Thanks for hosting guys! DEES was surprisingly fun, and Cottage Bowl Part II was expectedly fun. Definitely good to go to a Canadian tournament for once.

Stats are up. We could have done a 4/5 rebracket but people had to leave. Email me corrections, but I did not bring scoresheets with me, so I'll trust you guys.

A huge thank you to all the people who made this tournament a success! Thank you to all the staffers (Ming Ho, Kira, JJ, Faith, Ben, and all the people I've accidentally left out or don't know the names of), Joe for doing stats, my excellent teammates Ian and Sam, and finally to our very, very worthy opponents! A good time and good people.

I just would like to thank all the staffers for coming out for a great tournament. I also like to thank the teams for all the fun and competitive games we had (and Cottage Bowl Part II had some great memories of its own). But most of all my gratitude goes to Ming-Ho for TDing his first tournament, which is not an easy task that he did pretty well. I hope everyone well into the New Year!
