Peaceful Resolution at George Mason University (3/3/2012)
Posted: Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:12 am
After an unduly long delay, I am pleased to announce that George Mason University will be hosting Chicago's house-written tournament, "the Peaceful Resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis" on March 3, 2012. The tournament will be edited by Ike Jose of Illinois and Marshall Steinbaum of Chicago, and Gautam Kandlikar will be the science consultant. The writing team consists of several Chicago teammates: Connie Prater, Tracy Lee, Charles Tian, Sam Bailey, and George Dewey.
REGISTRATION:
Teams must register prior to the day of the tournament in order to play. To register, please e-mail me at ben.cole.19 AT gmail.com with the number of teams, buzzers, and staffers you want to bring, and an email address where you can be contacted with details. I will e-mail my team contacts with necessary information as we approach the tournament. Feel free to share this announcement with any schools that you think would be interested in attending.
DIFFICULTY AND DISTRIBUTION:
This tournament is intended as preparation for ACF Nationals. Consequently, we will be largely adhering to the ACF Nationals distribution. The editors also intend to ruthlessly control difficulty--we would like to make sure there are no dead tossups or impossible bonus parts.

If you have trouble locating the Cinema, there is an Information Desk in the center of the building on the first floor, whose staff should be of assistance.

METHOD OF PAYMENT: It is preferable that you pay by cash instead of check, however we will potentially have little cash on hand for making change. If you will be paying by check, make your check out to "GMU Quiz Bowl;" if you're concerned about fraud, endorse them on the back, write "Deposit only" and our student organization's number, 610472.
FOOD: Lunch will not be provided. We urge all teams to eat on campus to avoid delays. The Johnson Center contains several places to eat, including a sub station, a Burger King, a Panera-like sandwich place, an Indian station, and a Chinese station. There are more places to eat outside the Johnson Center, but we strongly encourage all teams to eat in the Johnson Center to avoid delays. We will provide teams with a food guide.
