I am likely going to be attending the Linguistic Society of America's 2011 Linguistic Institute at Colorado-Boulder this summer. The Institute is from July 5 through August 5, so I could stick around an extra day and be in Colorado on August 6th.
I was sort of wondering if there would be any interest in putting together a small, informal event if there were any Rocky Mountain people interested in some kind of summer event. We could mirror something cheap on the 6th and just sort of have fun and network.
I know the circuit probably isn't huge, so this would be something very small and informal. If there's no interest, that's fine. I was just wondering, since I'd be in the area and willing to direct something if there is interest.

Now if only you were coming to Arizona instead of Colorado, we could talk.
See if UC-Boulder has anything for you. A former member of the ASU team was from Boulder and once mentioned something about a friend at UC-Boulder trying to start a team.

There's a possibility (very slight, but still there) that I might be going to a summer program at the mathematical and theoretical biology institute at Az St. Do you run practices over the summer?

Most of the summer jobs I'm applying for are in Colorado, so if this improbably happens I'd participate. I'd also be happy to mention this in the Denver- and Boulder-area trivia circles I'm familiar with.

Depending when this is, I may be visiting my friends from college in boulder. Keep me informed.

Re: Interest in Colorado summer event
There's an outside chance that I'll be at the LSA this summer myself, though I think I'm going to pass. If I do end up there, I'd naturally be interested in supporting and/or participating in this.

Ask me later during the semester. I will have graduated, but as of last summer, we now have summer practices as long as enough members are in town and interested.Golran wrote:There's a possibility (very slight, but still there) that I might be going to a summer program at the mathematical and theoretical biology institute at Az St. Do you run practices over the summer?

My sister's near Boulder, and I could easily plan a trip to visit her to coincide with anything there.
