Who will win the Maryland/DC NAQT state championship at Georgetown?

Some teams were not included due to a lack of Poll space. No harm intended.

Please list any other team that you think will win besides those included in the poll- some very good Maryland teams were not included.

Banneker, St. Anselm's, and Blair are all good teams but they haven't attended many tournaments this year. It is likely they won't come but I'm not sure. :?:

Congratulations to Richard Montgomery for your 4th place finish at the UVA tourni. Blake and Eleanor Roosevelt-congrats on your placing at the Howard Fiesta bowl. I think some of the teams in this poll may not be attending the Maryland/DC NAQT championship namely St. Anselms, Centennial and Banneker. Here is a link to the tournament web site.

P.S. To all schools participating in the tourni- you can post your "intrastate" record if you think that the poll isn't giving your team the credit it deserves.

According to the tournament website the following teams will be competing in the Maryland/DC NAQT championship-

Woodrow Wilson
Gonzaga
Georgetown Day
Howard
R. Montgomery (2 teams)
Sidwell Friends (2 teams)
Edmund Burke
Loyola Blakefield
Calvert Hall
Blake
Laurel
Quince O'Richard
Montgomery Blair
Eleanor Roosevelt
Walter Johnson
Elizabeth Seton

Judging by the strength of these teams, this should be a tough tournament to win.

Let me start off by saying AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

The people who picked starting brackets at the Maryland/DC NAQT championship must have been stoned. They placed in one of the three brackets of 6 teams each: Richard Montgomery, Blake, Walter Johnson and Blair (Howard and Sidwell Friends were in the bracket too) in the same opening bracket. Thankfully Blair did not show up. Therefore 3 of what probobaly were the top 4 teams in the tourni were in the same opening bracket. Blake beat WJ who beat RM who beat Blake creating a 3 way tie for teams 4-1. Only 2 teams could advance. RM was top scoring team so they advanced, while Blake and WJ were forced into to a 10 question with bonus tiebreaker. Blake won by 15 points so WJ was placed in the middle bracket of teams that came in 7-10. If you care who won you will have to ask mrb linux of blake or Ramark of Quince Orchard who won the tourni because my team didn't stay. Congratulations to GDS, Eleanor Roosevelt, Quince Orchard, Blake, Gonzaga and Richard Montgomery on making the top bracket of the playoffs.

Continuing where Wildcat left off, the top playoff bracket ended with RM A (my team), ER, and Gonzaga all having an 8-2 record. Gonzaga had the highest ppg, so ER and RM had a 10-question playoff to determine who would play Gonzaga for the championship. ER won and went on to defeat Gonzaga in the championship match despite a huge second half for Gonzaga that almost put them back in the lead. Congrats to all participants and the Eleanor Roosevelt, the new MD/DC state champions.

How did Blake do? And who did ER/Blake/Gonzaga/RM lose to in the second round?

Wow!! I think I just got 4 people from Maryland to post :!: I didn't even know there were 4 quizbowlers from Maryland who used this site. Maryland still doesn't "hold a candle" to the 8 person average per school in Kentucky and Alabama. :D
