I know this is a mainly high school quiz bowl board but I thought if the high school coaches would be kind enough to pass this on to their middle school coaches
Dear Coaches,
I am please to invite you and your teams to the 1st Annual Scottsboro Junior High School Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament. The competition will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006. This tournament will use ASCA format and rules. Play will be in one division (7th and 8th grade) but if you have any 6th graders, then you are more than welcome to allow them to play up. Also, if I have enough interest in a 6th grade division I will be happy to set that up.
We will be able to host 30 teams easily but if we have more than 30 teams interested, I should be able to work out a move to a larger building. We will also have an area setup for lunch and will be serving pizza and other refreshments.
Registration for the tournament will be $45. You may subtract $5 for a WORKING buzzer system. If you plan to attend, please e-mail me at [email protected] immediately so I may begin to get an idea of the numbers of readers we will need.

I wanted to publicly thank Mr. Dennis for a great tournament. It was definitely one of the better middle school tournaments we've ever been to. I'm glad to see more Alabama coaches and programs gravitating towards pyramidal questions and abandoning the typical "Who wrote {insert title of book here}?" questions.
For a school that has only had a quiz bowl program since October, the tournament was very impressive. There were a few tiny glitches, but nothing major. Thanks again, we'll definitely be back.
Also, I wanted to point out the strength of Scottsboro's team. They made the play-offs in their first-ever tournament against some pretty tough competition. Considering these kids had never even seen a buzzer before October, that's awesome.
