The MSU Academic Competition Club is excited to hold our last high school of the season on March 18. We will be running the well-received WHAQ set that was head-edited by Jacob O' Rourke. This is a high school regular difficulty set and I believe it will be good preparation for Michigan teams either attending NAQT Michigan or the State Tournament.

The tournament will be at Berkey Hall unless I get notice otherwise. This is the same building our other high school events have been in this year. The tournament will start before 9 am and there will be at least 10 rounds depending on what works with the field size. Though we are not running NAQT questions, we will be using NAQT rules on untimed rounds.

The initial field cap is 24 teams. We would like to have as many teams as possible so getting more rooms shouldn't be a problem. Teams can sign up to 2 teams at once and the remainder will be placed on the waitlist.

The payment structure is as follows:
$75 - First team
$65 - Second team from a school and on
-$20 - New to quizbowl (no teams from your school have attended a pyramidal quizbowl tournament in the last two years-- let us know if you qualify for this)
-$10 - WORKING buzzer system (If the system is broken, we will revoke this discount. Additionally, if your school said they were bringing a buzzer and didn't, we will ask for the discount back.)
-$10 - Travel over 100 miles one way, as determined by Google maps
-$20 - Experienced moderator (We would appreciate it if we could have more moderators so we could expand the field)
-$5 – Paying for the tournament the day of in cash. Please tell us ahead of time if you plan to pay in cash.
Minimum fee per team: $30

Please pay us by cash or check made out to “MSU Academic Competition Club” on March 18. Tell us if your team needs an invoice or you need to mail a check before the tournament. We will try to give all the teams invoices the day of the tournament. Please notify us if your team plan to pay after the tournament so we can get that process started ASAP.

Register by emailing [email protected] and please indicate how many teams your school is planning to bring and any discounts you believe you are eligible for. We hope this a great end of the season event and I personally look forward to seeing teams in East Lansing.

Stats for this tournament are up. Detroit Country Day A cleared the field at 10-0 over 8-2 Troy who finished in second. Thank you for all the teams that decided to brave the snow and come out.

I apologize for all the delays and I will make it up to teams. It is very hard--nigh impossible--to run a 16 team tournament with 7 staffers including the TD. I would like to personally thank Coach Servis of Dewitt for running a room today. We needed staffers because we had some unforseen staffer conflicts. I have run good tournaments in the past and I will work to improve next time. Teams that attended this tournament will receive a 10 dollar discount at our next event.
