The Darien High School Quiz Bowl Team is pleased to announce that it will be hosting NAQT’s Connecticut State Quiz Bowl Championship on April 1st, 2017 at Darien High School (80 High School Ln., Darien, CT 06820).

The tournament will use NAQT’s IS-166, and every team will receive a copy of the set after the tournament. Please note that this set will overlap with NAQT’s Sectional Championship tournaments (SCT) that will be held next month. Teams planning to play here should not play at a tournament using the SCT set and vice versa.

We will be using standard NAQT rules, except that games will consist of two ten-question untimed halves and there will be no computational math.

The tournament will run from around 8:45 am to 5 pm. We will be serving a light breakfast of bagels and orange juice. Teams may purchase pizzas for lunch for $15, as there are no food options close by.

The top 15% of the tournament will qualify for the 2017 NAQT HSNCT. We are also seeking certification from PACE to become a qualifier for the NSC.

The fee structure will be:
$80 for the first team from a school
$75 for each additional team
-$5 for each working buzzer system
-$10 for each capable moderator
$15 per pizza

To register, please email darienquizbowl@gmail.com with the number of teams, number of buzzer systems, and number of moderators you will be bringing, in addition to the number of pizzas you will be ordering.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact darienquizbowl@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you on the 1st!
