Post by Kevin »

On behalf of Mount Carmel Academy, I would like to invite you to the Crescent City Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, March 18th. All high school teams are welcome to attend.

The tournament will be 20/20 format on NAQT IS-165A. There will be no computational math tossups or bonuses.

We will have separate Varsity and JV brackets. The JV division will be for students in 10th grade or below. The tournament will be in a round-robin format, with rebracketing for playoffs if necessary.

Schedule (subject to change):
Registration: 8:00-8:30
Meeting for players and coaches: 8:40-9:00
Preliminary rounds: 9:00-12:00
Lunch: 12:00-1:00
Individual awards ceremony: 1:00-1:10
Playoff rounds: 1:15-3:30
Trophy ceremony: 3:30-3:45

The field size will be tentatively capped at 18 teams. This number may increase depending upon the number of readers available. Each school may register up to three total teams. The base fee per team (not per school) is $60. There is a $5 discount for bringing a fully functional buzzer system with at least eight working buzzers (limit two buzzer discounts per school) and a $10 discount for bringing an experienced reader who can work the entire tournament (no limit on this discount).

Please make checks payable to “Mount Carmel Academy.” You may bring a check or cash on the day of the tournament, or you may mail a check to Mt. Carmel Academy, 7027 Milne Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Please write "quiz bowl" on the envelope or the memo line of the check.

Team trophies will be provided to the winning varsity and JV teams. Top individual scorers will also receive trophies.
