2017 NAQT Missouri Qualifier - March 4 @ WWU (Fulton)

Post by ScoBo »

The Missouri Quizbowl Alliance invites all MSHSAA-registered high school Scholar Bowl teams to participate in the 2017 NAQT Missouri Qualifier, which will be held at William Woods University in Fulton on March 4, 2017. Please note that this is a different location from previous Qualifiers.

The NAQT Missouri Qualifier will use NAQT Invitational Series #166. As of December 12, this question set was not assigned to any other tournament in Missouri. It is your responsibility to ensure that your team has not previously heard this question set and will not compete in any other tournaments using this set. Question set assignments are subject to change at any time; a list of tournaments using this set is available on NAQT's website.

Thanks to the substantial interest we received from teams completing the interest form, our initial 24 field has already filled and we have several teams on the waitlist. We have room to host up to 36 teams once we have confirmed enough staff to run a larger tournament efficiently, but will be unable to expand any larger than that. Schools that have not signed up but would like to attend are encouraged to register to join the waitlist as soon as possible to secure a good spot on the waitlist!

For more details about the tournament and a link to the registration form, see the full announcement on our website.

The field list and other updates will be available in this thread on the Missouri Quizbowl Message Board, which will be updated more frequently than this one.

We look forward to seeing a diverse field of teams from throughout Missouri in Fulton on March 4!

Following round 11, Washington A, Central, and Washington B were tied at 2-1; Rock Bridge B was 0-3 and took home fourth place. The three tied teams were seeded based on superplayoff points per game to play a two stage final. Central won the play-in game 320-200 over Washington B to give Washington B 3rd place. For the small school title, Hallsville A finished in eighth place overall and Louisiana finished in eleventh place. The separation of only three places resulted in an advantaged final between Hallsville and Louisiana, which Hallsville holding the advantage. We must give a HUGE thanks to William Woods University for providing us the opportunity to use the facilities on their beautiful campus for the tournament. We could not have run a tournament of this magnitude in multiple buildings without the help of the amazing representatives from William Woods University, particularly Brenda Foster and Shaun Speers, whose advance preparation and assistance during the event were critical to the success of this tournament. Everyone there has been incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and we hope all of the teams had a great experience. We can definitely envision returning to the William Woods campus in the future.

Thanks to everyone who staffed and attended and supported this tournament over the last ten years. High school quizbowl in Missouri has changed so much since we hosted the first Qualifier in Rolla in 2008, and we always greatly enjoy the privilege of hosting this event for so many of Missouri's brightest students. We look forward to seeing all of you return to the Qualifier many times over the next ten years and beyond!
