2016 Autumn Classic at the University of Michigan (12/3/16)
Posted: Thu Sep 08, 2016 7:04 pm
Michigan Academic Competitions is pleased to again be hosting its annual Autumn Classic, which will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016.
Please note that we will be having an initial field cap of 32 teams; the cap may increase depending on the availability of staffers. Nevertheless, it is in your best interest to register as early as possible!
Location and Schedule
We will begin registration at 8:15 a.m. and hold a mandatory meeting for players and coaches at 8:45 a.m. Rounds will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue through the morning and early afternoon with a lunch break around 1:00 p.m. Playoffs and a brief awards ceremony will follow, and we expect to finish no later than 6:00 p.m. The tournament will be held on the second floor of Mason Hall on the University of Michigan’s Central Campus, just like in years past. More specifics on this will be sent out as the tournament date approaches.
The tournament schedule will incorporate a pooled round robin for preliminary play, after which teams that qualify for the playoffs will play in a double elimination bracket.
Question Set
We will be using NAQT's IS-162. As a result, teams entering the 2016 Autumn Classic will have a chance to qualify for the 2017 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament.
We will be following NAQT rules, except we will be skipping computational math tossups. We will be playing timed rounds.

Registration
To register, either sign up using this form or send an e-mail to [email protected] that includes your name, school, number of teams, number of buzzers you can bring, a phone number, and a confirmation e-mail address. Please mention in the subject of your Email that you are registering for this tournament. Please note that the registration forms on the team website are no longer valid. If your registration e-mail does not include ALL of this information, you will not be officially registered and thus will not be guaranteed a spot in the field. You can register as many teams as you like, but we will only take two per school at the moment while other teams will be waitlisted when our staffing situation is clearer.
When we receive your registration, we will send you an e-mail calculating your fee. If you note an error in the calculations, or if we fail to send you this notice promptly, please e-mail us and let us know. Once we receive your school's entry, we will send you a confirmation, area maps and directions, tournament rules, and other useful information.
We hope to see you on December 3rd!
