2016 Connecticut State Tournament @ Conard (4/23)

Conard High School is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Connecticut State Quizbowl Tournament this year on April 23rd 2016.

Location: This tournament will take place at Conard High School, 110 Beechwood Road, West Hartford, CT, 06107

Time: Registration will run from 8:00-8:35. We will have a moderator meeting at 8:30 and an opening meeting with everyone at 8:45. Matches will start at about 9, and the tournament should run until about 5 p.m.

Question Set: We will be using NAQT IS-156. All teams will receive a copy of the question set after the tournament.

Tournament Format: This will be determined once we know what the field size is. We hope to give all teams at least nine games. We will be using NAQT rules, and rounds will consist of 20 tossups and the corresponding bonus questions.

Nationals Qualification: The top 15% of the tournament will qualify for the 2016 NAQT HSNCT. At least one team that has not already qualified must qualify at this event, so if all teams in the top 15% have already qualified, the highest placing team that has not yet qualified will do so.

Registration: The free structure will be:
$70 for the first team from a school
$60 for each additional team
-$5 for each working buzzer system
-$10 for each moderator
$12 per pizza (see “Lunch” below)

To register, please email [email protected] with the number of teams, number of buzzer systems, and number of moderators you will be bringing, in addition to the number of pizzas you will be ordering. All figures are flexible until April 4.

Payment: Payment is expected on the day of the tournament in either cash or a check made out to Conard High School

Lunch: Teams can choose to purchase pizzas in advance for $12/pizza or bring their own lunch. There are some options within driving distance if schools wish to find other options.

Field Cap: We are looking to cap the field at 24, however if more enter we can be flexible.
