Post by mikemathis3020 »

CATT XI (Johns Creek, GA) - 11/7/15

Chattahoochee High School is pleased to announce the 11th Annual CATT (Chattahoochee Academic Team Tournament).
Our tournament will be held on November 7th, at Chattahoochee High School:

5230 Taylor Road
Johns Creek, GA 30022

We will have two divisions: Varsity and JV. Both divisions will play with the same rules. We are planning on a field cap of 56 total teams.

Each team will play around 6 preliminary rounds, and a single-elimination playoff with the final four playing a round robin. Ties in the final four round robin will be broken by head-to-head, then PPG. Trophies/plaques will go to the top 4 teams in each division.

The cost will be $65 per team, and $60 for each additional team sent. Lunch will be served after the 5th prelim round. Registration payment can be brought in the day of the tournament or mailed ahead of time.

There will be a $5 discount for each working buzzer system (limit 2). Coaches interested in reading will get a $5 discount for their team and free lunch. Coaches who volunteer to read only have to read during the prelim rounds. Contact [email protected] if you are interested.

Rules:

We will be mirroring BASK which is a regular difficulty high school set. Details on the set can be found at this post.

Rounds are 20/20 with one tiebreaker tossup if needed. Both divisions will use powers (15) and negs (-5). Five players are allowed per team. We will use bouncebacks, and substitutes are allowed at the half.

If you are interested in attending, please fill out the registration form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11NrZnd ... E/viewform

If you have any questions, please post here or email me at [email protected].

Email sent to all registered teams:

Thank you for signing up for the eleventh edition of the Chattahoochee Academic Team Tournament, held in our campus (5230 Taylor Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022) on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Please read the following information carefully so you are familiar with the rules and format of our tournament.

Schedule:

7:35 - 8:20 - Registration. Please call Mr. Mathis at ... if you are running late for the tournament.
8:35 - Opening meeting.

We will have five prelim rounds. Round 1 will start promptly at 8:45. Rounds 1-4 will be followed by lunch. Lunch will be served on-campus; teams should fill out a lunch order form in the morning. After lunch, teams will play round 5 of the prelims. Please stay for all five prelim rounds so that all our teams can have a quality playing experience!

We will then hold a single-elimination playoff (16 teams for Varsity and 8 teams for JV). In both divisions, the final four will then play a round robin for the championship. Ties will be broken by head-to-head and then PPG.

The tournament should conclude at around 5:00 PM for Varsity and 4:30 PM for JV.

Rules:

Up to 5 players can play at a time, and substitutions are allowed between rounds only.

We will be using powers (15), tens (10), and negs (-5) for both divisions. We will have no bouncebacks on bonuses. We are also planning on keeping individual stats.

You have 5 seconds to buzz after a question is dead, 5 seconds to begin an answer after you buzz, and 5 seconds to confer on each bonus part or designate another player to begin an answer.

Field:

Here is our current field. We are looking for one more Varsity and one more JV team to round out our field, so please send me an email if you are interested.

...

See you on November 7! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
