Charger Challenge 5/16/2015 (San Jose, CA)

Post by slothslothsloth »

It is my pleasure to announce that I will be hosting Charger Challenge on May 16, 2015 at Leland High School in San Jose on behalf and with the assistance of the Leland quiz bowl team. The varsity division will be played on GSAC XXII. The junior varsity division, meanwhile, will use Potatoville Varsity, a set of approximately regular difficulty.
This tournament is open to any middle and high school teams that wish to attend. The preliminary field cap is set at 24 teams total and could possibly expand. You are encouraged to register as early as possible.
EDIT: PLEASE NOTE that all schools are REQUIRED to bring one adult with them (this adult can be your staffer if you are bringing one).
ALSO NOTE that this tournament will run from 1-7PM.

Fees:
Base fee: $80 for the first team
Additional fees: $70 for each subsequent team

Discounts:
New team discount: -$20 per school that competed in no pyramidal quiz bowl tournaments this year or last year
Buzzers: -$10 per buzzer set with minimum eight functioning units (four per side) [Note: if these buzzers require a laptop to function, you must also provide the laptop.]
Staffers: -$15 per experienced staffer, -$10 for inexperienced staffer (each staffer MUST have a laptop/tablet to access questions, no discount will be given without an accompanying device)
Travel: -$20 per 75 miles traveled one-way (as determined by Google Maps)

** Staffer discounts are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will stop accepting staffer discounts once we have two staffers per room. **

The deadline to register is Thursday, May 14. Please register at this link: http://goo.gl/forms/dTbxmgkSLT

Feel free to contact me at any point with questions/comments/concerns at njpeters AT berkeley DOT edu.

So for Varsity - Guilder and Davis have only 180 TUH, while it's supposed to be 380.

The other way around. I don't think Haarlem and Saratoga actually heard 220 tossups in round eight.
