2015 NAQT New Jersey State Championships (4/18/2015)

Post by Majin Buu Roi »

Alright. Let's try this again. Princeton University Quiz Bowl proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2015 NAQT New Jersey State Championships on April 18th (the comedy of errors leading to the selection of this date is lovingly enshrined elsewhere on the forum) on the Princeton University campus. The tournament will be open to any high school teams from the state of New Jersey and will use IS-146. Matches will be conducted according to the rules enumerated here;(https://www.naqt.com/rules.html) with the exception that the matches will not be timed (halftime will be after question ten of twenty) and that there will be no computational math questions. Teams will be capped at six players each, although only four can play at a given time.

The fee structure will be as follows (please make out all checks to "Princeton University Quiz Bowl"):
$80 registration fee for first team
$60 registration fee for each subsequent team
-$10 discount for each experienced moderator (no limit)
-$15 discount for each experienced moderator with laptop (no limit; as at PHSAT XXII earlier this year, all scoring will be electronic, any moderator with out a computer will be matched with a staffer with one)
-$5 discount per buzzer system (no limit)
The minimum fee per school will be $50.

The format of the tournament will depend on the amount of interest we receive, but all teams will be guaranteed at least six matches, and the field will have a preliminary cap of 36 teams. We will keep everyone posting on details such as parking as the tournament approaches. In the mean time, feel free to contact me at [email protected], and we hope to see you and the 18th.

Delaware held a state championship today, so it looks like this will be exclusively New Jersey.

At least in my experience, it ran fairly well, especially considering 1) the odd field size, 2) some teams left at lunch, and 3)a team left in the afternoon without telling anyone.
