Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the annual Thomas Jefferson Invitational Academic Tournament (TJIAT) on April 18th, 2015. TJIAT will be held at TJHSST, located on 6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The tournament will be mirroring the HFT set, and as such, will provide a good opportunity for teams looking to practice questions of a higher difficulty in preparation for NSC and HSNCT. Further information on the set distribution can be found here. TJIAT's field cap will be set once some finer constraints have been ironed out, but our present hopes are for a field of 10 to 20 teams (note: registration is now closed). Teams will be limited to 6 people at maximum, and schools planning to bring more than the max number must register multiple teams.

Logistics:
Registration will begin at 8:15 AM, and the opening meeting will start at 9:00 AM. Basic breakfast foods will be provided.

Fees:
Registration fees per team:
$70 for schools that regularly participate in pyramidal quizbowl
$40 for schools that are new to pyramidal quizbowl

Discounts:
-$10 for moderators with reading experience for pyramidal quizbowl tournaments
-$10 for teams travelling over 200 miles
-$5 per each fully functional buzzer set, defined as having at least 8 working buzzers

Registration fees can be paid through cash or by check. Checks should be made payable to TJHSST Quizbowl with your school’s name and Registration Fee in the memo line. While payment the day of the tournament is preferable, mailing it in advance will work as well. Anything sent via mail should be addressed to TJHSST Quizbowl c/o Dennis Loo at 6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA, 22312.

We're just under two weeks away from the tournament date (4/18), which means that it is a great time to sign up if you haven't already!
Unfortunately, our site is having maintenance issues. For the time being, please post in the thread if your team has not signed up but would like to participate.

We now have a cut-off date for registrations! Please be sure to sign up by Tuesday (4/14) night if your team would like to attend TJIAT.
Additionally, we have set the field cap for 16 teams, but the cap is subject to change if enough interest is expressed.
