NAQT Oregon State Championship @ Portland State (5/17/14)

Greetings, everyone!

This is the preliminary announcement for the 2014 NAQT Oregon State Championship, to be held on Saturday May 17th. The tournament will take place in Neuberger Hall on the campus of Portland State University. This tournament will be open only to schools in Oregon; however, aside from that there are no restrictions on which schools may compete. This tournament will use IS #135A.

Fees and Discounts

Base Fee: $60 (for first team)
Additional Team(s): $50 (per team)
Buzzer Discount: -$10 (max of -$20)***
Travel Discount: -$5 (per 100 miles)
Minimum Fee: $30 (per team)

***Buzzer system must be in full working order (i.e. eight working buzzers)

This is not a good date for this, as it is NHBB Nationals, for which Catlin Gabel and Westview will both be in attendance with their strongest players. Given that there aren't many active programs in Oregon yet and very few date conflicts, I strongly suggest you look at a date in May or earlier in April.

This tournament will be pushed back one week to Saturday May 3rd, in order to accommodate the teams attending History Bowl Nationals. Hopefully, there will be no other conflicts with any interested teams.

Would it be possible to have a running list of schools currently registered for the event?

As of right now, the only team that has shown serious interest has been Portland Jesuit. Some of the other teams that I contacted have expressed limited interest. I just sent out a reminder e-mail to all the contacts that I have, so hopefully there will be more information to post about soon.

Also, in said e-mail, I left open the option of moving the tournament back a week or two, depending on what works best for the greatest amount of teams. Stay tuned...

In order to better accommodate everyone who has shown interest, this tournament has been pushed back two weeks to Saturday May 17th. All other details remain unchanged.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of interest, I am going to have to cancel this tournament. I think that the groundwork has been laid to get a circuit going in Oregon, but it will have to wait until next year. And good luck to the teams from Oregon competing at Nationals!
