CAST at UNC - Chapel Hill, NC - 3/22/14 [DII SCT]

UNC Quiz Bowl is proud to announce the Carolina Spring Tournament, which is being held on Saturday, March 22nd on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC. This tournament is intended as a warmup for teams planning on attending the NAQT HSNCT or PACE NSC. We will be using NAQT's Division II SCT set and using timed halves.

Cost:
First team: $80
Subsequent teams: $60
Buzzer discount: -$10
Staffer discount: -$10
Travel discount (one per 150 miles one-way): -$10
Minimum fee: $0

We will be conducting registration for this tournament either via Google form or email to [email protected].

Payment will be accepted on the morning of the tournament, at check-in. If you must pay in advance, note this in your e-mail and I'll provide you with a mailing address. Checks should be made out to Carolina Academic Team. If an invoice is needed, let me know and I will get one for you.

Field cap:
We are setting an initial soft field cap of 12 teams.

Question set:
We will be using NAQT's Division II Sectionals set, using timed halves to ensure the tournament runs smoothly. The minimum number of games teams will play will depend on our final field size, but it will not be less than 8.

Affiliation:
This tournament will be a chance to qualify for both the NAQT HSNCT (top 15% of the field) and the PACE NSC.

Team size:
There can be a maximum number of 6 players on each team’s roster, with substitutions possible at half-time and between games. If you wish to bring 7 or 8 players, we ask that you register a second team, and so on for anyone with larger numbers of players.
