NCATA Championship -- Wake Forest Regional (3/1/14)

Post by Mewto55555 »

HSAPQ, in conjunction with the NCATA, is pleased to announce our North Carolina regional tournament at Wake Forest on Saturday, March 1, 2014! The top few teams from this tournament will qualify for the NCATA State Championship at the Early College at Guilford on April 5.

Both the regional events and the NCATA State Championship will use HSAPQ’s 8-8-8 format: a first and third period of 8 powermarked tossups followed by a one-part bonus read to the team which correctly answers the tossup, and a second period of 8 directed bonus parts, 4 for each team. This format is designed to provide quicker-moving games to keep new teams engaged, piquing their interest in quizbowl and drawing them to regular local events.

Note that the qualification procedure for the state tournament is slightly different than for HSAPQ's other state tournaments: the top four teams from both regional sites will all qualify for state, as will the four top teams based on statistics (points per bonus and points per game) across both sites combined.
