Arizona Quizbowl Association is proud to host a JAMES mirror on October 26th. Round one will begin at 9am with registration beginning at 8am. We will be in the Durham Language and Literature building on Arizona State University's Tempe campus. The tournament's projected end time is no later than 5pm. Registration will close Monday, October 21st at 10am.
We will be using TJHSST's JAMES packet set. Additional details on the set can be found here.
The tournament will consist either of a full round robin, or two bracketed round-robins with single-elimination finals depending on the number of teams. This tournament will feature 20 point powers, bouncebacks, and no negs. Timing will be according to PACE NSC rules. Mixed teams are permitted to participate via AQA's Participation Guidelines.
The top three teams and top three students will receive trophies, and the student with the most powers will be awarded the coveted Power Plaque. We will also be awarding the team with the most steals a plaque. AQA is actively seeking PACE certification for this tournament, which would grant at least the top 15 percent of teams a qualification to PACE NSC.
Bunnie Hadsall will be the tournament director.
Entry fees
The fee is $50/team.
There is a $5 discount for each working buzzer system provided for use on tournament day.

Re: Arizona Quizbowl Association JAMES Mirror - Oct 26
I am not in any way affected by this, but I am curious:
(I would advise, if you allow me to, that you be clear with the teams which parts of the rulesets you're looking at. Also, if people prefer PACE-style bouncebacks with NAQT-style clocks, there's no reason you can't mix'n'match.)
Which aspect(s) of the difference are you interested in? Timed vs untimed? Bouncebacks vs no bouncebacks? 15-point powers vs 20-point powers? All of the above?AZQuizbowl wrote: We are gauging interest with participating teams on whether this tournament will follow NAQT rules or PACE NSC rules.

We're thinking more specifically bouncebacks vs no bouncebacks and 15-point powers vs 20-point powers. Arizona schools run on a relatively tight Saturday schedule, so rounds tend to HAVE to be restricted time-wise.tabstop wrote:I am not in any way affected by this, but I am curious:Which aspect(s) of the difference are you interested in? Thank you for letting me know to clarify. :)
