I thought Arcadia was using IS-124 for Carnal Embrace..

Hmm...that might be a problem then. Would you mind posting a link to Arcadia's tournament info? Socalquizbowl shows that the packet they are using is TBD. In the meantime, I'll double check with our coach about our packet. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, we had just decided to use the set last Friday and just sent out an email of inquiry today, but nothing was set in stone yet. In any case, I've added this tournament to the socalquizbowl.org schedule. Aside from the SAT I being held on March 9, I don't think there are any other multi-school conflicts in SoCal.

We just confirmed with our coach anyway. We are using IS-124 for our tournament.

Arcadia is using GSAC for Carnal Embrace.
Also, I suggest increasing the new school discount by a large amount. The purpose of the new school discount is to allow incipient teams with a very small budget to enjoy quizbowl without being threatened by large monetary commitments in the form of registration fees that they can't pay for. Increasing the discount to at least $30 would make your tournament much more appealing to new schools and teams - just make sure you're specific about what classifies as a "new school" so veteran teams don't abuse the discount.

Ok thanks Eddie.
We've changed our new school discount to -$40 for the first team from a school that has played one or fewer tournaments in the past two years.
*I'll get Marisa to change the original post as well soon.

Er... the minimum fee reads $50, and unless that's a typo, it exceeds the fee of a single team that receives the new school discount.

Can I get a field update on this Saturday? According to your email, Arcadia E and F were taken off the waitlist, and I want to confirm that the elusive Santa Monica is still attending :)

Stats for today can be found here
Full recap and SoCalQuizBowl.org write-up here
These stats are rough and according to the La Jolla team should be fixed around Monday.
Aside from some obvious stat hiccups (unrecorded rounds, extra negs, missing PPB, etc), the tournament today was extraordinarily well-run: every single team got at least 8 rounds, and the tournament ended before 5. The rounds were very orderly, and for the most part the moderators were quite proficient. All-in-all, this was an excellent tournament.
Team placement and records, as far as I know:
Format was double round-robin with dual champs brackets for playoffs, and then semifinals, then finals.
1st- Arcadia A, 10-0
2nd- Torrey Pines, 7-2
3rd- Arcadia B, 6-3
4th- Arcadia C, 5-4
Thanks for doing a wonderful job hosting!
