2013 NAQT Western PA State Championship, 3/23/13

The Carnegie Mellon University Quiz Bowl team will be hosting this year's NAQT Western Pennsylvania State Championship on Saturday 23 March 2013.

This tournament will use NAQT set IS-126, and all NAQT rules will apply.

This tournament has been awarded PACE Gold Certification, so the top 20% of the field will qualify for PACE NSC.

Registration will take place from 8:30 to 9:00 with an aim to begin play by 9:15.

Interested teams should email John Retterer-Moore [email protected]. Please include the number of teams, buzzer sets, and timers you plan to bring. The registration deadline is March 15.

Fees will be as follows:
--First team: $70
--Second team: $60
--Each additional team: $50
--Question puchase (after tournament): $20

The following discounts are available:
--working buzzer system: $10 per system
--Working timers: $5 per system
--Register before March 1: $10
--Travel more than 150 miles (as determined by Google maps): $10

We strongly encourage all teams with working buzzer systems to bring them, to ensure that we have enough buzzers for all rooms. If enough teams register that we need outside moderators, a substantial discount would be added for teams that could provide moderators; an e-mail will be sent out to registered teams if this occurs.

Full details on how to get to campus and where on campus the tournament will be taking place will be sent out to all registered teams in early to mid March.
