The Quizbowl Resource Center

Michigan State University's Academic Competition Club is now taking registration for NAQT States, scheduled for April 14, 2012.

This tournament will be an untimed NAQT event, and will be using questions from [IS-116]. The field cap has yet to be determined and will be based on the number of staffers we have available, but only Michigan teams can participate. Registration will take place from 8:15 to 8:45, and we plan on starting matches at 9:00.

Tournament Fees:
First team: $70
Additional teams: $60
Buzzer discount: -$10 per functional set
Distance discount: -$10 per 100 miles (one way), by Google Maps
Staffing discount: -$10 if at least one coach/parent helps read questions
Minimum per team: $30

For the record, we're following our typical procedure of capping this at 24 teams and expanding the field as more staff becomes available, so if your team is able to bring a staffer, please do so to earn a $10 discount and many thanks from us.

The field is filling up pretty quickly, with an increase in the cap pending a better estimate of the number of staffers we'll have. If you still want to compete, posting very soon will hopefully guarantee you a high spot on the waiting list.

EDIT: As of April 2, the field has reached its cap. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please notify us. We plan to get more staff, and once we do the cap will probably be raised.

As a final wrap-up message:
Stats have been posted; since Siddhant mentioned that, I have also posted combined stats including the several tiebreaker games that occurred. Again, congratulations to DCC A, DCC B, and DCD A for taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively. In addition, congratulations to our top individual scorers, Siddhant Dogra, Adam Greene, and Bobby Dorigo Jones.

If you have any concerns about these statistics, please let me know as soon as possible. Some players used fake names, and some coaches also did not give me the correct rosters before the tournament, so some of the names (especially last names) are wrong. If you want those fixed, please let us know, although that's a less urgent matter than if there's a serious numerical inaccuracy.
