Mellon Bowl II took place today, October 2nd, at the Carnegie Mellon University. The tournament consisted of only seven teams from four schools, a rather weak turnout compared to the first Mellon Bowl last year. A round robin was played amongst the seven teams, all of them participating in at least two rounds in the playoffs.

Solon A (5-1; 3-0) and Detroit Catholic Central (6-0; 2-1) tied for first place after agreeing not to have an additional playoff match. Shadyside placed 3rd, having only two players (the third left halfway through the tournament).

Congradulations go to Joel Knight, with the highest Points Per 20 Questions Heard, followed closely by Noah Rahman.

{Anyone can post the full results if they wish, as I do not remember all the stats off the top of my head.}

Why did you all not only not have a final, but agree to not have one?

Because both teams were qualifying for Nationals already, we had tied overall records (we had beaten each other once), they refused to use stats to break the tie, and the difference between 1st and second place prizes was a set of Carnegie Mellon visors or a set of Carnegie Mellon pennants.

Stats show that they would have won a stats tiebreaker.
