I just submitted a ballot to this. If you do stuff for high school quizbowl, you should too - the results carry much more weight as more people submit ballots. Things such as aggregated statlines, Fred's Excel files, and win-loss records of one team against another (to the extent that they exist on Excelsior or can be tracked on the new DB) make this a surprisingly fun and worthwhile exercise.

Not only that, but they make creating a meaningful ballot much easier than it might have been in the past as much of the pertinent information has already been collected and presented by others.

If this podcast thing happens, it'll make it easier to fill one of these things out. I just haven't seen a lot of great teams play this year so i have virtually no firsthand information.

I don't quite understand how Hunter got 372 votes and Centennial got 356? Assuming 25 for 1st place, 24 for 2nd, etc., Hunter got 12*25=300 points from first place votes, so they must have been 2nd in the remaining 3 ballots. But if you place Centennial in the highest remaining spot in every remaining ballot, they have 2*25+13*24=352.

EDIT: Ignore this, I can't do math.

2*25 + 13*24 = 50 + 312 = 362.
The math seems to be done right, at least until the individual ballots are up.

Not being a stats person, I'm not sure this is worth noting, but if you look at any given team and indicate the difference in score between that given team and the one immediately above it in the rankings, and then do the same thing for the given team and the team immediately below it in the rankings, I came up with the curious observation that Cistercian has the larget "split' when one adds these two differtial numbers together. Any statisticians out there who know what the significance of this dfference is?
