Knights' Challenge at Rockford Auburn, 1/7
Posted: Fri Dec 30, 2011 3:30 am
The 13th Annual Knights' Challenge Tournament is a 4 on 4 quiz bowl event, using modified ACF rules, with 20 TUs and three-part bonuses per round. Every team will play 8 to 10 matches. As was the case last year, there will be a frosh/soph division and a novice varsity division.
Questions: We'll be using the Minnesota Novice set.
Schedule: We'll have teams check from 8 to 8:30 a.m., coaches' meeting 8:40 a.m., start round one by/at 9 a.m.
We'll have a lunch break after round 5, and afternoon matches will get done between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
For the f/s division, teams will RR in their morning pools, and then we'll rebracket into afternoon pools. I haven't explicitly talked to Ms. Greene about tiebreakers yet, but if we do what we've done for other tournaments in the last year, we'll break ties based on record first and then PPG within pools. If we have wild-card spots for the playoffs, we'll be sure to delineate the rules for that ahead of time.
For the novice varsity division, I think we're just having a straight-up full round robin.
Field, as of before winter break began:
Auburn 2 (or 3?)
Wheaton North 3
Belvidere 1
Oswego East 2
Kaneland 2
Princeton 1
Winnebago 1
Boylan 1
Moline 1
Wauconda 2
Marengo 2
Carbondale 1
Hinckley Big-Rock 1
Stevenson 2
Joliet Catholic 2
St. Viator 3
So that puts us at 27-28 teams as of now. This information, by the way, was related to me by Ms. Greene, and that email didn't indicate anything about which teams here will be playing in which divisions. I'll be looking to contact her to sort that stuff out.
