There will be a quizbowl tournament at Queen's University on February 11, 2012. It will use an NAQT "A" set and it is open to all high school teams (though they are targeting new-to-quizbowl schools in the area).

I don't know if anyone from Queen's uses this board, but Britney Castleman ( secretary -AT- onqba.ca ) has been collecting registrations and can be a contact person if needed. Details will need to be sorted out, but expect admission in the $40-$60 per team range.

The field currently stands at:

Regi: 2 teams
KCVI: 1 team
Ernestown: 1 team

I am still waiting on responses from the other 4 schools, but we have the minimum number of teams to proceed. I will also be contacting schools in the Brockville, Belleville and Gananoque area in the hopes of extending the reach of Quizbowl.

Just an update regarding the current field:

Regiopolis: 3 teams
KCVI: 2 teams
Ernestown: 1 team

I have also called 6 more schools in the Belleville, Brockville and Gananoque areas who are new to quizbowl. I will be following those up in the next week or so. Just to clarify - this is a *novice* tournament, so if Lisgar intends to bring teams, they will have to be novice teams. The goal of the ONQBA is to encourage quizbowl, not scare off any new teams.

Lisgar is definitely considering sending a team of grade 9s if we can.
Our senior players are also willing to staff.

And yet *another* update regarding the current field. We now have 7 teams who will be coming, from 4 different schools.

Regi: 3 teams
KCVI: 2 teams
Ernestown : 1 team
Bayridge: 1 team

I will be re-contacting the 6 surrounding schools I called in December to get confirmation one way or the other about their attendance. Deadline for teams to register is January 31st. 2012.
