3rd Annual DAR Winter Invitational 19 February 2011

Dear Coaches,
I am pleased to announce the 3rd Annual DAR High School Winter Invitational will be held on February 19, 2011 with registration set to begin at 8:30 am and play being promptly at 9 am. Base registration fee for the tournament will be 60 dollars with discounts of $5 for working buzzers (limit 2 per team), and $5 off for experienced moderator (limit 2 unless prior notification). In addition, as a community outreach, any team that brings in 10 or more canned or nonperishable food items will be given an addition $5 off the base registration fee. The food will be donated to our local food pantry for distribution to family in need.
The DAR Invitational will be a NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments) national qualification event using NAQT IS-102 set of questions. All rules for official NAQT tournaments will be followed except each individual match will not be timed. Full rules can be found at http://www.naqt.com/rules.html . There will be trophies given for the top three teams in both the varsity and junior varsity divisions. We will only have a junior varsity division if we have more than 6 teams that qualify as junior varsity (9th and 10th grades only).
Playoff qualification will be given out at the coach's meeting prior to the start of the playoff but junior varsity teams will be included in the playoff to allow them the chance to qualify for the play at the NAQT National Championship tournament later this year in Atlanta.
